Origin

In my sophomore year, my friend, who knew how much I loved playwriting, introduced me to her father, filmmaker Tony Shyu. From there, I began my internship at Tony Shyu Productions. I then started working on the documentary Builders of the Silicon Dream.

Purpose

Through Builders of the Silicon Dream, we wanted to highlight the contributions of Asian Americans to Silicon Valley and the United States. We recognized how Asian Americans have often been underrepresented by the mainstream American media, despite their large roles in launching tech entrepreneurship.

What I did

I had many roles. I helped write the script, including writing narration, picking out where to insert the interviews, picking the images, and more. After the release of the documentary on PBS, I helped host events to share the documentary.
